Cover Fix / Upcoming Reviews

Judging By… {The Butterflies & Pixels Edition}

Ok, we know we shouldn’t.  Be we still do.  It’s Sunday afternoon and while we are lounging by the pool (ahem) bundled up under six feet of blankets, we thought we’d bring you some books that look intriguing for 2011 based solely on, you guessed it, the covers.  Here are this weeks picks.

Possession by Elana Johnson (June 7, 2011 – Simon Pulse) (Goodreads)

Ok, admittedly this one’s on my list for several other reasons as well. (Hint: Look for our video interview with Elana next month).  But, for some reason this cover just screams at me.  It’s clean and simple, but unique. Sci-fi, but oh so elegant.  And yah, I admit it, I’m a sucker for anyone who manages to make a butterfly look freakin’ cool.

Flutter by Erin E. Moulton (May 12, 2011 – Philomel) (Goodreads)

Well, I didn’t set out to make this “the butterfly edition,” but my brain does tend to get stuck on themes sometimes.  Look at this gorgeous cover.  How can I not expect something magical and full of wonder to be between the pages of this thing?

Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky (May 23, 2011 – Houghton Mifflin) (Goodreads)

This one’s been on our radar as well.  It falls with Possession in the whole “Thank-God-the-Universe-finally-recognized-the-utter-fabulousness-of-dystopia” category.  The cover is so sweet and innocent and almost non sci-fi.  Did you catch the slight pixelation though?  Just a hint at what’s inside.  It’s perfect.

That’s all for this week kids.  Leave us a comment and let us know what you think of this weeks covers and what’s catching your eye out there in book land.
